A Month in Review

Here are some of the highlights from July 2022 as told by the Sales team . . .

Sid Khanna: Great work Sam Grace

I just wanted to give a mention to Sam Grace this past month.  I know its been a quick learning curve with him being new to the company, but he has done a great job so far.  He was able to get my CHOP custom insulation projects back on track.  He is also doing a great job in setting up the Holy Name Insulation Installation coming up in a few weeks.  He has also helped manage Thermaxx effectively with all the issues that we have had come up.

Great work for your first 90 days at APM Sam!

Jim Krochune: American Green Fuels

American Green Fuels previously used Power & Process several times for their yearly surveys, and the customer was unhappy with the work provided. Ryan Patterson completed a four-day survey on May 19, 2022:

Traps Surveyed: 237 Traps
Annual Steam Loss Cost: $225,260
Therms Saved (if repaired): 158,783 Therms
Repair Estimate: $63,967 (Please see our repair quotation for additional information)
Simple Payback: 0.28 Year Payback

During the initial report presentation, the customer stated they had issues with the heat trace traps cracking or freezing. After discussing and reviewing the pictures with David Holroyd and Eric Honan, it was determined the Watson McDaniel traps were installed in the wrong orientation. We had to add more time to re-orient the traps into the vertical position. There was also a concern the copper fittings may need to be replaced or repaired, and the customer said they would be onsite to ensure all copper fittings would be taken care of.

We provided two proposals, $46,656 for Failed traps and $22,834 with the tank farm broken out into its quote. APM Steam resubmitted all revised findings to the utility company to ensure the survey and repairs incentives.
The estimated incentive for the Process Traps is $18,662.40 and $9,133.49 for the Heat Trace Traps, totaling $27,795.89. $69,490-$27,796 = $41,694. The simple payback in less than two months after utility incentives.

We received both POs three days after the final quotes were sent to the customer. The maintenance manager, Keith, called me and asked if we sold parts as American Green Fuels will never buy another trap from Power & Process again. Keith had asked Power & Process several times if they needed to be installed in a particular orientation, and they said no and continued to sell them traps when the froze in the tank farm.

Overall great team effort and I think they will be a customer for a long time.

What a great example of a job well done by APM!
